A. sp. Rotpunkt , not Viejitas

Post by Ltrepeter2000 »

Hey I just found out that I have this apisto instead of the Viejita's. The breeder that I got them from at the Auction began to wonder about the coloration and had a "cichlid expert" identify them. I guess they were brought in misidentified from the wild. I am going to have to do some research on this one since I dont know what to expect now when they color up.

Thanks
Rob

Kris

Do you happen to know the breeders that you got the Viejitas from? I would still be interested in getting a pairm, especially from the line that the male you got came from.

Thanks

I don't, but I bet we can find out from Andrew. Francine might even know. I believe they were from New Jersey, but I don't remember their names. Francine, do you remember the names of the folks you got the apistogramma elizabethae from at the Catfish Convention?

Update: I spoke to the breeder of my fish and he should have some pairs ready sometime soon. I think he is looking for somewhere between 18-20 a pair but if I there is a large interest in them I might be able to get him lower. Its still a good price without it. I am not sure what shipping would be but if we wait until I am headed home I am pretty sure that my last trip is going to be by car so I can bring the tank I got here back with me so I could bring them with me if I do that. Let me know if there is any interest in getting pairs or more of these.

Thanks
Rob

I went and picked up a mixed bag of 12 more of these Apisto's from the breeder today. I got two pairs among the 12. He is willing to work down on the pairs. Got him talking about 12-14 a pair when or if we decide to get them from him. He had an amazing anubias plant in a 40 gallon tall tank. This plant was probably 2 feet wide and 18 inches tall give or take and he trims it regularly since its grown to about max capacity for the tank. He said that its been left in the tank for over 5 years now. Really incredible to see, I asked him to send me a photo when he got a chance.

Let me know if you are interested in getting some of the Apistogramma sp. Rotpunkt as I will be going to see the breeder one last time this week, and then driving all the fish home on Sunday. Just want to know if there is an interest so I can ensure that I pick up enough fish. Please let me know by COB Tuesday. I can get them for $6.50 a fish, some of the ones I will be getting are too young to sex right now. This is an incredibly good deal as he is getting 8 a fish in credit from one of the LFS here in town, which is selling them for just under 20 a fish.

Thanks
