Caves -Ceramic Pots

Post by Ltrepeter2000 »

I bought a hacksaw and a ceramic blade for it and have managed to turn some mini flower pots into caves but the red of the ceramic really stands out and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on toning it down. I was contemplating using silicone on them and then roll it in some extra fluorite that I have(fluorite is the substrate in the tank) but was curious if anyone had any other ideas.

Are there any paints that are tank safe?

I'd probably do the silicon, rolled in flourite/gravel, but make sure the silicon is aquarium safe. GE Silicon I for Windows/Doors should be okay, but anything for the bathroom is not be because it has a funguscide in it. Also, I've not used it, but I've seen recommendation online to use "Patio Paint" to paint aquarium ornaments. You can buy it at Michaels.

I bought an aquarium silicone from Petsmart. I will look into the paint.
Look forward to more ideas.

Another option is to grow moss on them. It works pretty well actually.

What are you using to secure the moss?

Thanks

Just use some sewing thread or fishing line and eventually the moss stays attached by itself.

Plain old Java moss sticks by itself pretty well. You can just tie it to the pot and in a couple of weeks it sticks by itself.

Cheers
