Phosphate question?

Yesterday I did a 50% water change with DI and I am still getting a ready of 10 ppm of phos. I have been using seachem phospha guard and changing it out when I do water changes. When I tested just the DI before putting it into my tank it measured at 2 ppm. I don't know what is going on. Not sure if it my test from Aquarium Pharmaceuticals. or what. My tank specs are listed in the gallery where I posted my tank pics.
I know I have posted about this before but this does not seem normal.
Any Ideas?

I live in Arlington, and their water comes from the District which is know for lead pipes. The water is treated with phosphoric acid making very high phosphates, so I don't add phosphate to water changes.

Check your local water company to get phosphate levels.

Don't worry about the phosphate level. It won't hurt a thing. Stop using the phosphate guard; you don't need it.

My water in Fairfax county is also very high in phosphates. Like Mark I only add phosphates three or four days after a water change.

Ok, I will stop using phospha guard, Our water is probally similar, I live near Bailey's Crossroads. Thanks for the advice

the report doesn't list phospates, but there's a number to call. Note that this is the City of Falls Church water report and not Fairfax county water.
