The best shrimp food on the market is Hikari Crab Cuisine. No copper in it and the shrimp love it.
I can try to remember to bring a bag for you to the next meeting. I think it was about $3.00 or so.

TetraMin Tropical Crisps
Fish Meal, Dried Yeast, Corn Starch, Shrimp Meal, Wheat Gluten, Ground Brown Rice, Potato Protein, Soybean Oil, Dhulled Soybean Meal, FIsh Oil, Dried Skimmed Milk, Sorbitol, Lecithin, Algae Meal, L-Carnitine, Ascorbin Acid, Inositol, Niacin, L-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate, A-Tocopherol-Acetate, Riboflavin-5-Phosphate, D-Calcium, Pantothenate, Thiamine Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Vitamine A Palmitate, Folic Acid, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex, Cyanocobalamin, Cholecalciferol, Mangane
Um, yes. I picked this product because it has no copper, but did have carotenoids. The shrimp in the 2 gallon swarm to the crisps when I feed, and leave nothing. They swarm to the shrimp pellets too, but I always have 2 or 3 dead shrimp the next day. They take care of the Hikari sinking wafers, but not as quickly, they never seemed to like the crab food all that much.

I actually made it to that PVAS meeting. You can always get a small bottle of reef iodine and add a couple drops to the water. I'm not adding any iodine and I have many shrimp reproducing. YMMV

I have never had any problems with my shrimp in my 110 and they feed readily on TetraMin flake. But like Mark, I can't keep shrimp or snails in my 2.5 gal nano to save my life.
Water chemistry is exactly the same as my 110 since every other day I take a gallon out of the 110 and replace water in the 2.5 with it except I started dosing 1 drop P to help control green water. Temp is room temp (67-72'). Substrate is Flourite. Plants are a few Lilaeopsis novea-zealandiae , some sparce Hemianthus callitrichoides, Riccia fluitans, and a Cryptocoryne x willisii 'lucens'. I just added some Phyllanthus fluitans to increase nutrient uptake.
Cheers.
