Best Source for Compact Fluorescent Bulbs??

Post by Ltrepeter2000 »

Was wondering where members usually get their bulbs for any compact fluorescents as I am looking to replace all my bulbs which gives me about 16 bulbs to replace. I am not sure on the length of time that many of my bulbs have been used so I figured I would start fresh and keep it logged so I know approx. when I will need to replace them later. Rather expensive and will probably end up having to do it slowly over the next few months but I was wondering if anyone had a source where they were getting them discounted.

Thanks

Rob

I buy all of my PC bulbs from ahsupply.com. I wouldn't say that they're discounted, but they're cheaper than I've found locally. Only in one instance have I ever received a damaged bulb from shipping, and in that case they shipped a new one no questions asked.

ahsupply.com is where I got mine last. The only prob ive had is the most recent order the bulbs were a bit thinner than the ones that I ordered originally and they didnt fit in the original clips.

I won an ebay auction for four 55wt 1000K CF bulbs for like $24 once awhile back. The guy has them like that for sale all the tune, but can't find him now. Someone online has those new blubs where one half of the tubs is one color and the other half is the other color. They are in square and straight pin.

Hmmmmmmm.. and my whole fixture has been acting crazy.

So far Bigstick's suggestion of Lightbulbdirect seems to be the cheapest with 14.20 per bulb for the 20.7" bulbs which is what I need the most. Definitely liked the discussion so far though on all the different places we get things and what our thoughts of their products are. Think it might behoove us(especially for newer members to rate and evaluate stores, websites, company products)

Kris,

Do you think its possible to add a rating system in a new folder so that we could document and evaluate all the different places we buy aquarium products from so newer members have a reference guide on what GWAPA members thoughts are of different stores(Wally's) websites(ahsupply.com), or companies(Marineland), ....IE

Wally's Aquarium Center
1-5 Scale
Amount Spent/Price for items(especially in specific products for comparison shopping)
Remarks block

I think that this could be a very useful tool for both ourselves and also for those of us that frequent the same places. If we find that many different members are having specific problems with an establishment or store then as a membership we could direct a well written or well versed suggestion to management/owners of thoughts for improvement. On the flipside, if we find that we receive great service from a store we might seek to guide more business to those locations. We could even create a Seal of Approval Certificate or sticker for the front door so that members see it and also a good cheap way to advertise our organization.

Just a thought.

Thanks
Rob

I think it's a good idea, but there have been some liability problems when this was done on other sites.

Several have been successfully sued and shut down in the past for slander/defamation of character because they "materially contributed to lost sales" and "pain and mental anguish by the owners" even though the content of the messages was correct.

Pets Warehouse/Robert Novak vs. Dan Resler, et. al. comes immediately to mind.

For those not painfully aware of the case:

Cheers.
