How will the carpooling arrangements work? I originally did not consider going to the 2024 AGA but I think that carpooling might make it viable for me.

You would have to match up with drivers' travel times.
Like for example, I plan on leaving the morning of Wednesday, April 3rd and coming back the morning of Monday, April 8th.

Re: AGA 2024 Carpooling questions
I'm going on Thursday and returning Monday.
Re: AGA 2024 Carpooling questions
I've yet to buy a ticket or book any hotels unfortunately. I wonder if it's possible to decide to go at this late point.

You can probably still get a ticket to the convention, but you'll have to check if there is a room available with the hotel.
Re: AGA 2024 Carpooling questions
Even when I checked a few weeks ago only bed or more expensive options were available. Obviously none are available now a week from the event.Cristy Keister wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 8:04 am You can probably still get a ticket to the convention, but you'll have to check if there is a room available with the hotel.
The biggest trouble was being unsure if I was able to attend so I was unable to buy tickets early.

Re: AGA 2024 Carpooling questions
You can call the hotel to see if they opened up any more rooms for our block. Just talk to the front desk and ask. Also, when you get to the convention, you can ask people if there is a spare bed for you to crash on. I know that there are a few people who are still looking for roommates and are willing to share cost of the room.
As far as tickets for the convention, you can still buy tickets. You can also show up and buy the tickets at the registration desk as a walk in. AGA always lets last minute people attend. You probably won't get access to the Wabi-Kusa or the Aquascaping workshops as those are sold out and there is a waitlist. The field trip as far as I know is sold out too, but it has been known in the past that people don't make it because they missed their flights and can't get to the field trip in time. You might be able to get a last minute ticket to the banquet, as it has been known that sometimes people don't show up. Finally, the vendor room and the auction are free to attend.

Re: AGA 2024 Carpooling questions
Does sound doable, but kind of risky for an event with a high cost and far from home.scientist0724 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 10:10 am You can call the hotel to see if they opened up any more rooms for our block. Re: AGA 2024 Carpooling questions
Is there any chance I could arrange some sort of carpool and roommate arrangement before I buy a ticket? I know it's unlikely this late in the timeline but the convention is interesting enough I will at least make an attempt to still go.

Re: AGA 2024 Carpooling questions
I am leaving early tomorrow and coming back Monday morning. It's longer than most, but it's because I'm helping. There wouldn't be much for you to do until Thursday afternoon or Friday, unless you want to help the local club with setting up.
