From first-hand experience with a 2-year old who wants to "hi the fish," your decision is a wise one.

Sorry I'm late on the reply----you can do whatever you want to grow plants/prepare before the event. At the event you must use the provided equipment (tank, filter, lights). I think we used CO2 the first year on the big tank, but I've never used it since at AE. Just not worth it for three days. I would recommend not spending another second trying to plan how to bring CO2 to AE for your contest tank.

I would, but I'm already doing so with Viktor. I know others are heading up there (Sean, Ghazanfar, Ben B, etc). I think Tim was considering it. Maybe one of them is looking for someone?

Someday I will have enough money that my spouse can't use it as a valid argument for why I cannot leave him with the kids for 3-4 days and travel a few hundred miles to go buy more fish...
