Sick fish

Post by Indaliah »

So, as a few of you know, one of my Emperor Tetras is sick/dying. I've done a water change and that didn't help, but now I'm facing a new problem: my amano shrimp (or snails?) seem to be eating him alive, because he has practically no tail left!

So, should I:
A) put the fish out of his misery and flush him alive
B) wait for him to die and then take him out
C) let him die and then let the shrimp eat it?

Sorry, this is a bit morbid, but I've not been faced with this dilemma before. I don't want to harm the other inhabitants of the tank, since the rest are seemingly healthy.

I'd freeze the fish. Flushing it would just add to its misery. Leaving it for the shrimp to eat it after it dies would pollute the water.

I think vodka is more humane than freezing

Update: fish was dead when I woke up this morning. Thanks for the advice though!
