Need help with Vallisneria
Need help with Vallisneria
I never really kept vals before, mostly due to the fact that most of my tanks have been on the smallish side. I am getting ready to set up a 90 gallon Dutch style tank and I would like to try adding val. Can anyone recommend an easy to find val species that grows very straight and doesn't get much taller than a foot tall? Thanks
Re: Need help with Vallisneria
I think all vals get taller than a foot with the possible exception of corkscrew val.

It sounds like you want a Sagittaria.

Ask Damian about one of the Sagitarria that he has. I believe that he posted some pictures of it flowering recently. I think that there is a Sagitarria grammea (sp?) that possibly Sean has that stays decently "short".

Dave Snell had a species/variety that he had growing in his 75 (??? think it was a 75) that grew like a bamboo field, really straight and created a beautiful wall in the back... i know you will have to trim it as it does want to throw runners all over, but it pretty much grew to the height of his tank....
sorry, as I don't know what species it was but he might remember..

Nick,
If you want some Sagittaria subulata to try out, let me know. I have a ton growing in the 75 that I can pull some out for you. Should be easy to work out a pick up since we are both in Sterling.
Thanks
Rob
