Satellite Freshwater LED+ PAR Readings

Post by krisw »

Sorry for promoting my own link, but I thought ya'll may be interested in PAR readings for my latest LED fixture. The Satellite Freshwater LED+ from Current USA is a really nice fixture for shallower aquariums, producing high-light with a ton of features (remote control included):

The presets make the Satellite more versatile. Very nice. It's too bad we can't check the PAR at a greater depth.

Please add your PAR readings to Andrey's spreadsheet, https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... tRWc#gid=0

Do you have the PAR readings from your Finnex RAY 2?

Mike, I'm hoping to check the PAR on my 40G tank when I get the chance. I did take PAR readings for my other fixtures, but I haven't had a chance to write them up. That'll be my next blog post. :-p

Thanks Kris,
At that price the light has a lot going for it. It sounds as if Satellite can be used effectively on a shallow tank and the full spectrum mode might even provide enough PAR for a deeper tank. Or, are some of the features lost on deeper tanks?

This is probably asking too much but can you program it to automatically cycle through the different presets?

Mike, I doubt you'll get high light at deeper tanks, but it might be a low/medium replacement. One person on TPT reported:
The PAR value for 1 SAT+ 12″ deep is 36 micromols and at 24″ is at 21 micromols.
I don't believe you can program it to cycle through different modes. You can program your own light color/levels though.
