The prototype fixtures from Buildmyled.com arrived about 2 weeks ago, but between my job and family stuff I haven't even opened up the box yet. Nick needs me to ship the fixtures back on Monday 5/20, so I need to get them out of the box and hook them up for an evaluation this weekend. Sunday morning is the only time I have available due to the fact that is the weekend of my son's violin recital. Would anyone want to come to my house Sunday morning -- anytime before noon? I live in the Urbana, MD area (between Gaithersburg and Frederick MD, just off of 270).

I thought we could use my three 5.2g planted shrimp tanks to compare the various light spectrums. The three tanks sit in a row, so we would be able to see the side by side comparison of the fixtures. Nick is looking for us to give him feedback regarding the various light spectrums.

Also, I just did a big trim on my tanks, so anyone that comes over can leave with some nice free plants.

Not fair! I want some of Julie's plants! Unfortunately, I'm out of town until Monday evening.

Thought you all might be interested to see my analysis of the various lights from Buildmyled.com. My husband and I were able to compare the lights nicely since I have three almost identical 5.2g tanks sitting side by side, so I was able to put a different light on each of the three tanks. I evaluated each light based upon how it made the wood (cholla), green plants, and red plants look (refer to the column headings).

Also, FYI, #4 is the Geisseman-like spectrum, which I have on my 37g. I didn't know that when I did the analysis though. If I were to order new lights, I would go with the 1st configuration. I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference however, if I didn't have the lights side by side.

I hope this is helpful.

Anyone have a chance to do a PAR test on any of these lights?
