Nick called me while I was on vacation to tell me one of his main people was in a very bad bicycle accident and he was scrabling to cover for him as well as take care of everything else. I told him that I was not in a hurry. He isn't charging me for the 2nd set (even though I offerred) and is trusting me to send the first set back, so I can't complain at all.

I am looking forward to seeing the new sectrum though.

That definitely puts things in perspective. I might have placed my order for a second unit before Julie and Nick discussed the prototype. But my unit was quite delayed, so when Nick reached out to let me know they were hoping to get to it, I asked if he could substitute for a prototype version instead. He obliged.

My fixtures are a custom length (29") too, so that probably extended the process as well. Nick has kept me informed all along the way though, so I am not upset about the delay. I told him he could delay on my replacement order.

I installed the replacement LED's from Buildmyled.com, and I do like the new color spectrum better. It is warmer. The Reds look more brick red than purple-y. As an added bonus, BBA does not show up as much under the "aquaflora/midday imitiation" light. BBA does show up much more under the "freshwater planted" spectrum.

I took a picture of each light. My camera didn't capture the color exactly, and the tank actually looks brighter in person. In any case, it does give an idea of th difference between the two color spectrums. I apologize for the glare from a nearby window that shows up in the picture.

Confused (not uncommon...)

Are you saying the BBA grows less under the GA/M lights or just isn't as noticeable under that spectrum.

tnx

The BBA is still there, but it just isn't as noticable. :)

So which do you think looks more natural?

Cheers.

I could live with any of them, but the oranges on the Aquaflora one do look more natural than the purples on the right - at least in the picture
