Julie's Kokedamas

Jim inspired me to do some Kokedamas too. I used plants from my very much neglected emeresed setup and wrapped two of them up in mystery moss, and wrapped the rest of in a "irish moss" that I bought at the local plant nursery.

I have them each sitting in a clear plant water dish, and then have them all sitting in an old birdbath I found at a yard sale and has been sitting in my garden for years.

While I was getting filthy making the Kokedamas, my son was busy making mud pies with the left over mud. I wish I had a picture of that mess! He was thrilled that I was allowing him to get so dirty.

They looked OK for the first week, then they quickly went downhill.

Yes, that is a birdbath. I now have my succulent wreath sitting in the bird bath since it is too cold to leave it hanging on the front door.

Yes, you inspired me. It is much more difficult (and messy!) to do than it looks. My succulent wreath project turn out much better, and it is much more forgiving if I forget to water it. I'll have to take a new picture of it and post it.

Marlene's wanted to try a succulent wreath for years. She love succulents and we've been toying with buying an old stone watering trough or making a hypertufa trough for the patio for her succulent garden.

I saw some real stunners and would love to bring back a nice lichen covered one from the UK, but Yikes!, I could bring back a whole container of Rover bits for the price of shipping. Now there's an idea! Next time the club brings back a container, see if I can't fill the voids with a couple of troughs.

Those are a nice idea. I grow aquatic plants, emersed, in the windowsill. In summer, it is amazing growth. Right about now, the Sun light being so weak and with short days, the plants begin to die back. Any new shoots are much smaller. Incidentally, I plan to sell some Giant Hair Grass samples for fish ponds in Spring.
