Reading different blogs and article, now I have decided to do some shopping.
I already have
1. "Eco - complete substrate"
2. T5 HO ( 650 nm X 6000k ) (2 * 24 W)
3. Flourish Excel (As carbon source) + DIY CO2
4. Flourish Tab (as root fertilizers)
For the Fertilizers -> what exactly to buy ? where to buy from ?
Can someone be my mentor and list the things I need to buy. I am looking more for more details for NPK (Micro and Macro fertilizers).
And measurment kits that would be required.
Regards,
Nikhil Karnik

If you make it to this Saturday's meeting, you can listen to Aaron's presentation on fertilizing.

You may not need anything else being the tank will not be a high growth tank without CO2, your root tabs may do the trick as some nutrients will leach into the water column, but typically this is what I get from GLA.
Potassium Nitrate (KNO3)
Mono Potassium Phosphate (KH2PO4)
Plantex CSM+B
Iron Chelate
The Ultimate GH Booster

Thanks guys. I will plan for the saturday meeting.
Re: Where and what to buy - Plant Fertilizers
I'll be covering more about nutrient needs and target levels. I can't imagine TPP would appreciate my suggesting everyone use DIY fertilizers while presenting in their store. However, you should be able to glean the info you need for DIY if you choose to go this route.

Aaron, I think your talk should speak to your recommendations, regardless of the setting. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you use commercial traces/iron anyways, and DIY for macros? I see no problem suggesting that.

Well, we'll just have to disagree then. I suspect the audience will steer me there eventually with questions and I'll discuss it then.krisw wrote:Aaron, I think your talk should speak to your recommendations, regardless of the setting. Also, this talk has been given so many times. I was hoping to delve a little more into why and what symptoms to look for as far as deficiencies.
I'm actually doing full DIY dosing right now.

I agree and doubt TPP will lose any customers due to you sticking to your guns, I think they would carry them if they have enough requests to warrant the sales.krisw wrote:Aaron, I think your talk should speak to your recommendations, regardless of the setting.
