I'm going to spell it out so I don't make any mistakes, my tank is getting a little green spot algae on old plant leaves and on the glass but I let the glass go for 10 days or so without using the Magfloat and the leaves in question are old Crypt wendtii of different types but all slowish in growth.
I want to adjust my macro mix or atleast I think that's what I need to do, so please correct me if adding more phosphates is the wrong way to go, but along with a couple other plants I'm want to try boosting my K to see if it helps my H. pinnatifida grow, but it seems after reading Ghazanfar article on ratios standard EI is already over doing it with K.
This is my current Macro mix:
I mix 5 tsp per of KN03 and 1 & 1/4 of KH2P04 to 200 ml of water = 20 ml dose per 50 gallons of aquarium water.

Re: GSA
I hope someone gives you a good answer. I use Pfertz because I just want to give some squirts each day and walk away.

Re: GSA
GSA is the easy one -- it almost always indicates that your phosphates are low. That makes sense given your macro mix. I usually try to mix KNO3 and KH2PO4 in a 3-to-1 ratio, but don't go straight to that. Try mixing with 1-1/2 tsp or 1-3/4 tsp of KH2PO4, and gradually go up from there until you're no longer getting green spot. Or, if otherwise things are going well for you, keep dosing what you've got, and add a little bit of KH2PO4 from time to time to supplement.
Re: GSA
I like the "dose by squirt" method too -- LOL! I bought some plastic bottles with pumps, and put my fertilizer solutions in there. Each squirt is roughly 2ml, so it's pretty easy to adjust dosage from tank to tank...jweis wrote:I hope someone gives you a good answer. Re: GSA
I'd be squirt'n all night with 60 ml of macro going in, thanks for the info Kris I can't wait to see how it does.

Re: GSA
I sold a bunch of them on the SnS and I got down to the last three and it hit me that some club members might find them useful, so I'm glad you like them and they come in handy on larger tanks if you wet dose anything. We really did use one for turkey gravy and then pulling apart for cleaning in the dishwasher so they are durable too.

Re: GSA
I did a 50% water, cleaned the glass, and made a new bottle of Macro mix with 400 ml water, 10 tsp. KN03, 3-5/16 tsp KH2P04 and the tank will get it's first dose tonight so I'm excited to see this small problem disappear.
Sincerely,
