Keeping a cycle running?

Post by Jim Miller »

I seem to have gotten the 10g cycle running pretty well. I'd like to keep it running without adding ammonia every day. I'd rather not add fish at this point since there's so little room in a 10g to do the plant work. I'd rather hold off on them until the plants are in place and doing well.

Any suggestions for keeping the cycle running? Snails and some fish food are one possibility. Any others?

Thanks

Jim

I don't know another way to keep the bacteria fed in the 10g, but you could put the filter (or just the media) on a tank with fish until you need it back on the 10g.
