It's only growing on the wood. It disappeared when the BBA took over and now that the BBA is gone (for now) the white stuff is back.

Perhaps as fungus of some sort. Happens on wood, and disappears after a bit. Had some on my manzanita once. Not sure about it returning, though.

Plecos, Otos, and even nerite snails will eat it.

I suspected it was a fungus of some sort but being a n00b didnt' know for sure. I've got 2 nerites and a couple of otos. I'll see how they do. I may get a few more nerites from Rachel, probably a couple more otos as well.
