Solar pond filter?

Post by Sonny Disposition »

Hi all. I asked around at the other forums about a solar pond filter, and Christy reminded me that Kris had tried one.

Does anyone else have any experience with a solar filter?

I'm at the idea stage--I have a 50 gal. tub that I'll probably raise some rosy reds/fatheads in. I've never filtered it before, but it would be nice to have a solar powered device on it that filtered detritus and provided intermittent circulation, particularly, on sunny, hot days.

You never know what you're going to find, or where you're going to find it. So keep looking.

I used a cheap solar pump (not filter) from ebay in my pond. After going thru 2 in 3 years I switched to a standard mag pump. The circulation is way better, and it shows with less algae. Of course, I'm sure that there are better solar units than what I used.
