Combination of bulbs

Post by ricoishere »

I have a 20", 3 bulb PC fixture. I would like to know what would be the best combination to use. I'm thinking 1,4& 5. Available bulbs are:

1) 36W 10000K WHITE STRAIGHT PIN POWER COMPACT

2) 36W 450nm BLUE/PLANT GROW STRAIGHT PIN PC

3) 36W 50/50 10000K WHITE, 03/BLUE 420NM ACTINIC PC STRAIGHT PIN

4) 36W 6500K FULL SPECTRUM STRAIGHT PIN PC

5) 36W PLANT GROW STRAIGHT PIN PC

any combination of 1 4 and 5 should be fine. I wouldn't ever use the 3rd one on a planted tank. That one is for reefs.

You could also consider 2 6500K bulbs run for 8h, and 1 10,000K as a 1-3h noon burst. I guess it all depends on how many switches you have ordered.

What is the K rating of the Plant Grow bulb?

Ths Plant Grow are 8000k. Some say they are too yellow. But I think if used for noonday burst, it should be OK. They're not popular with everyone. Most stick with the 10000/6700K combo's. These bulbs are provng hard o get excep from catalina. These are 36W, 16" straight pin.
