Bristlenoses???
Bristlenoses???
I have a male Ancistrus about 4-5 inches long and quite hefty in my 50G. He started rearranging my substrate lately around some driftwood, which isn't hard to do because it's SMS Pro. I've seen my SAE disturb it just by swimming close to it too fast. It's very light.
I was wondering if I should risk setting up a Mineralized Soil Tank with an SMS or Turface cap and fish that may try to do a little rearranging. Seems like a recipe for disaster.
I have a female Bristlenose in my 29G and I'm thinking about placing her in the 75G with the male from the 50G. But besides needing wood for rasping, I'm not sure what else I should get for them. Or if I should rethink keeping them in a MST. I am also contemplating using 3M colorquartz, because it's heavier, it may be a better cap.

Concur, They really love the ceramic caves that are narrow and deep. Mine goes all the way in with the exception of his tail. I get fry pretty regularly from mine. Fry have successfully moved to three other tanks and are breeding in at least one of those.

Rob, do you mean one like the second one down, the 1.5" dia. round cave closed-end? I'm guessing this one should do.

I've got a light-colored one and a darker one. They prefer the darker one.

Joe,
I have some extra ceramic caves that I bought at the Catfish Convention that I'm not using because I couldn't decide on whether to get the red or gray ones. I went with the red ones, so the gray ones are extra. I have three of them. I can give them to you for $2 a piece. Let me know if you want them, and I'll bring them on Saturday.
