Don't forget, some things are worth the effort. For the talk, Cavan will actually be able to make it, so he and I will jointly present on native plants and our collecting adventures. Plus, Jeff's won lots of GWAPA aquascaping contests, and has had his tanks featured on APC -- it's always a treat to see top-notch 'scapes up close.
Don't think of it as the middle of nowhere. Think of it as a desitnation you finally get to arrive at after your car went more than 15 mph for once. Or think of it as the same amount of time as going from 395/King Street to 7 corners and back. It'll be a nice change from the traffic.
As one who routinely travels the area for work, I can say it is no further time-wise than virtually any of the other MD locations for almost anyone (except me and maybe Robert, other MD locations are further for us two) - and honestly no further than several of the NOVA ones either for that matter.
Took me 45 minutes to go from the DC beltway to the exit off 66 for that hotel for Catfish Saturday to check out vendors. In comparison, it takes an hour to go from Jeff's to the bottom of the DC beltway (outside of rush hour on the outer loop), or maybe 70 minutes from Jeff's to Ghazanfar's place....
