Do you have a sponge filter?

Aquascape? I'm a crypt farmer.

If you've got bait, I've got wasabi!

Heh, I sense some sarcasm.

*grabs his single cell mouth pipettor and heads for the dissecting scope...

But seriously, if anyone has any going now, I was hoping to keep a batch of Corydoras adolfoi alive that should be hatching any day now... I was given two a couple months ago and lucked out and got a pair.

Seriously, if you have a sponge filter, squeeze it into a beaker, let it settle and siphon off the infusoria above the gunk. It is mostly rotifers. Microworms work well as a first food. Cory fry will survive in a tank with the adults with no extra care so you don't have to drive yourself crazy. I have them showing up all the time.

Have you had success rearing fry with frozen rotifers? I haven't tried it before. I usually like to gut load them with some tetraselmis/nannochloropsis /chlamydomonas first to make them a little bit more nutritious, but that's just overkill from trying to get tricky marine larvae through the first stage.

Definitely alot less hassle to use frozen ones, although not quite as nutritious. i don't want to dip into your stash, I'll just pick up some on the way home.

will be doing this when I'm procrastinating real labwork today.
I guess i'll just let this first batch go and get some cultures started....

which I can then gutload and eventually freeze..... and get the best of both worlds!

I haven't really tried. I bought it intending to try it out, but haven't yet.

I have rotifers going in Virginia. We are having the killi club over this Saturday and there will be microworms, daphnia and vinegar eels in addition to rotifers. Stop by at 1pm or give me a call and stop by when you get a chance.
