Looking for Cannister Filter

I'm debating on what cannister filter to use for a GLA 48L. I mainly use eheim, but in my experience, the smaller one are nowhere near as reliable as the Pro II and Pro III's. The couple of times I did use small cannisters, they were a PITA. I would like to hear some opinions on other small cannisters, and maybe eve positive on small eheim cannisters.

I bought a Toms Rapid Mini Filter for a 10 Gallon tank. The price was right at about $20, but unfortunately I had problems with reduced flow rate, and then it started leaking from the seal at the canister body. There is a thread on APC about modifying it to improve the flow rate.

Even though it didn't work out for me, others have posted positive reviews about it. I believe Azoo makes a similar small cannister filter. It might be a good option.

Thanks! I'll look into this. I have an Eheim Liberty, but it doesn't work to well for a planted tank. Appreciate the response.

The other canister that I've seen people using that is similar to the Tom Rapid Mini is the Zoo-Med 501. Its really intended for terrariums, but I've read about a lot of people using it for smaller planted aquariums. I have no experience using it, so i can't really give you an opinion one way or another, but It may be worth looking into a bit more.

ZooMed has a larger version of that canister, the 511 I believe. I would hope that it is a more useful filter than the 501 was.

I believe I mistakenly said Azoo, Zoo-Med is the other small canister similar to the Tom's.

I have 2 of the Zoo-Med 501s. They work ok, but neither are quiet. You wouldn't notice the noise in a fish room, but in an otherwise quiet room you'll hear them.

Thanks! it makes a difference, this is going in a family room. I might have to connect my spare 2028 on low flow/ Think that'll provide enough turnover ratio!
