I wonder how many here have, or are going through this:
I am constantly wanting to change the scape (or what is supposed to be) on my tanks! I’ve only attempted to scape 2 tanks. But I’m still nowhere near satisfied. Have the substrate, great plants (thanks to GWAPA!), great equipment… But I find myself looking at these 2 tanks, and visualizing the arrangement DAILY, and on the weekend, moving stuff around. Then it looks great for a day or two, and then I’m picturing something else. The change might be moving a rock over 2”, or adding another one. Maybe adding or removing wood. Maybe shifting plants. Never one to be totally pleased, I see something in another tank I like and I want to incorporate something similar into mine.
OK, is this just me, or who else is never pleased with their tanks ?

I don't think it's just you, I've never been pleased with any tank I've ever had. But that's kind of what's fun and challenging... even if you somehow manage to get the tank exactly like you visualized, it will only stay like that for a few days at most. Those annoying plants have a tendency to grow, LOL. So everything is in a constant state of flux. A few months ago, I decided to just let my tanks go, just to see what would happen. It's been fun to watch, but obviously they end up looking more jungle-like than aquascaped. I kinda like that, and I don't mind the extra free time I obtained by not bothering to trim my plants or do much more than just water changes and fertilization.

I'm in the same boat Kris. Let's see, I need time daily, so I convinced my Domestic CEO (spouse) to schedule 20 minutes daily for area beautification and (aquatic) grounds maintanance. So far, Corporate HQ seems OK with it.krisw wrote:Yeah, and the hardest thing is finding the time to do it right. I'm looking at 2 tanks I totally want to rescape, 1 tank I probably should, and 2 new GLA tanks I want to setup and scape. How many do I have time to do right now? zero.

That's exactly what I'm going through. That's why you see me giving away plants recently! Picked up quite a few at auctions, and they're growing like crazy. All of these are coming from just one ank, and it's a jungle..Jeff120 wrote:That seems to be just part of the stages you go through. After this you'll let the scape develop a little more, then change it LOL. Yep, always looking for ways to make a scape better is just part of the game. Wait until you HATE what you changed it to!
