Has anyone ever flowered anubias sp. 'Gasser'?

Post by chris_todd »

I see what I believe may be a flower developing on one of the Anubias sp. 'Gasser' that I have in my emersed setup. Has anyone in the club ever flowered this before? I know you can effectively identify (or at least narrow down) the species of crypts based on their spathes... is there anything we can learn from this flower that might help us deduce which species Gasser hybridized? If so, what do I need to do to preserve or otherwise examine the flower, if it is a flower and it opens?

Here are two pics (shot using the mad photo skills I learned from Jason Baliban at Aquafest! :D )

Chris, can you post a pic of the set up? I'd really like to see it.

Sure, but probably not until later tonight. Since it's a bit off-topic for this thread, I'll put a new post in the appropriate forum.

LOL. It's Sean's fault, I think - at the last meeting, he said "add Flourish Iron and Anubias throws up a new leaf the next day". So I started dosing Flourish and Flourish Iron more frequently to the emersed setup. Turns out that Sean guy knows some stuff. :D

Yeah well, last time I listened to Sean, he told me to cut the leaves off some java fern and float the leaves [rhizome went into a terrarium] to get babies. One million babies later...
