Proposed: Local Collecting Trip for Collecting Neophytes

Post by marydotson »

I've been wanting to try collecting--and it struck me at last week's meeting that the window for spending any length of time outdoors in the water this year is quickly drawing close. So long as the weather stays nice, would anyone want to give it a try with me this weekend?

I'd love it if any of our experienced collectors would be willing to mentor this. Where to go? What do we look for? What to bring? I have a zillion more questions--but then would one (or more) of the experienced collectors be willing to join us and advise?

I'm open to heading out to forage either Saturday or Sunday--just let me know.

No guiding words of wisdom? No suggestions? No advice?

Just pm me if you prefer...

I'd like to go collecting, too. I'm not an experienced collector, though. Sunday would work for me.

What do you intend to target?

Just the mere mention of collecting is likely to bring sonny disposition running, so beware. Anywhere you might find aquatic vegetation, you are likely to find finny creatures as well. :)

Cristy, Kris--would that work for you?

Tom--as a newbie, I don't know that targetting is really in my brain yet! :D I'd just like to figure out where to go, what to look for, what to wear... things like that.
