i had a lot of fun today! i was left with my mouth open! can anyone imagine my turtles living in that thing...eating those chubby frogs and tasting all those live plants and caviar

I really wish I'd had my wife along, she would have truly enjoyed seeing some of our hobby translated into landscaping. It sure gave me pause, as someday we'll be doing a patio under and around our deck. I'd been thinking of incorporating something like Kris's brick wall pond, and now am thinking reflecting pool at the edge of the patio.... decisions decisions!

Dave, as Sherry mentioned, if you have the space, go bigger. I like my brick pond for the size yard I have, but I'm out of room in there before I know it, and if I grew lillies, I'm sure they'd pretty much consume all of the water surface.

Thanks Dave, Yes, I remember that pond from pictures I've seen. It's very nice, and I've toyed with the idea of doing something similar in the nursery so that I can grow out fish in the summer. I grew guppies out in big plastic bins and ceramic pots last summer and they did really well outside.

We would have liked our pond to be brick walled with a flagstone coping, but went with the pressure treated wood, as it was easier for us at the time and less expensive, and also kept the project on track. If my husband had to stop and learn masonry we might not have ever gotten the pond done, lol.
