I've seen some nice big pieces go up at CCA (Capital Cichlid Assoc) auctions for cheap. I wouldn't be surprised to see some at the AGA conference auction, but I don't know if there will be any there for sure.
Otherwise, I'm sure some folks around here could advise you on how and where to find your own around here.
Personally, I've bought most of my bogwood from House of Tropicals in Glen Bernie. It's certainly not cheap, but I've found that their wood leeches <strong>far</strong> less tannins than the wood Aquarium Center sells, and is generally darker in color. (which I prefer). I figured I would throw that in so you can consider time and effort into your cost equation. Finding your own wood will be cheap, but may require multiple boilings, and plenty of time sitting in a bucket so that it doesn't turn your water brown upon entering your tank.

Anyone find good stuff on the banks of the Potomac?
How about outdoor landscaping places?
I'm not worried about leaching tannins; it's a discus tank with lots of water changes. I plan on attaching anubias and java moss and java fern to them.<edited><editID>Larry Grenier</editID><editDate>38300.6563773148</editDate></edited>
