Unusually dark Shufeldtii

Post by seiji64 »

Thought I'd post pics I took of this cool looking little lady with her eggs. I unfortunately lost her shortly after taking these, when she got stuck between a poorly placed internal filter and the wall in my 2.5 gallon and I didn't catch it in time. I was really bummed. :( These are the same dwarf crays people have been getting in the auctions, so hopefully you all will be seeing colors like this too. As a note, these crays tend to shift colors a good bit and I didn't expect her to stay this color.

And finally (Bridget, you started this...), here is my alternative to a fish bowl: a cat bowl!

I am clearly breaking the cats per gallon rule here, but Mikimoto seems to be doing alright despite this. :P

Nice pictures Doug! I've had some of the ones I got from you in the auctions turn this color as well. Very fun inverts to have in your tank! Too bad you lost this one!

Doug: LOMA. Love the cat-in-a-bowl! And I don't think the cats per gallon rule applies here. It's quite obvious that Mikimoto is handling things well.

Beautiful cat BTW. Is he/she a particular breed or an American mutt like mine?

Thanks, I think he's a cute cross-eyed mutt. He was rescued in 2003 from a couple of hoarders who had hundreds of cats on their property. May Day Cats

Mine was brought to the vet clinic I worked at as a foundling. A family found her in the bulge of their boat when they got it back from the repair shop. She was only about 3wks old. Her eyes had only just started to open and she weighted 8oz. Now she weights about 13lbs!!!

Wow. She doesn't look 13lbs! The power of good lighting and camera angles I guess... :)

I'm just glad we're not still talking about the crayfish. 13lb crayfish -- now that sounds scary! (or delicious. ;-))
