I'm getting ready to fire up my 120g again. The tank has been sitting emptied down to the last 3-4in. of water over the substrate. I plan on planting it and boosting the CO2 to max levels (no fish) to get things going. Anyone have any other suggestions.
Thanks
This is a quick snapshot of the 120 on the end of my partially finished tank stand.

I have Soil Master Select in 2 of my tanks; I added a very thin layer of peat moss and some laterite, both of which are pretty easy to obtain locally. I remember reading somewhere this was a good thing to do, but I'm not sure why. I think laterite is an iron source, I'm not sure what the peat does to help the substrate.
You have plenty of time to think about a hardscape and fert dosing regime before the next auction. I think most folks that buy dry ferts are using EI or PPS Pro. Both are fairly easy to follow.
You may want to think about how to incorporate the golden ratio or golden triangle. You have to scroll half way down this link to see the examples. You may remember the topic was covered at the meeting at Dave's home when he scaped his 180.
