Why Do I Keep On Loosing My AngelFish ?

Post by ddavila06 »

well, i posted a little while ago that one was being more aggresive to the other two so i adopted out the less dominant ones and kept the larger dominant one. Today i noticed it hiding in the back, unussual :? . now that i just fed i see that a part of its gills has a hole in it  . again, i had these guys from a group originally of four for close to a year now, i think and is very likely this guy will not make it through since last year i also lost a small group to something weird like this...suggestions anyone? ph is acidic. tank is somewhat nicely planted, two fluval 405 filter in a 120 gls aquarium, no larger fish to bother it...i don't know what else it could be. help

I don't know what to tell you. Angel fish don't usually have many problems. Try posting on the Capital Cichlid forum, or the cichlid-forum. There are many SA fishkeepers there.

Looks to me like a mutation, not disease.

I mean it looks like the gill plate didn't form correctly as it grew, which shouldn't bother the fish.

You might be relieved if you believe me. But I could be wrong - it's just an educated guess. :)
