Bob, I've actually brought in dragonfly larvae from my pond when I harvested anacharis for the indoor goldfish tanks. Luckily the goldfish were too big to be preyed upon by the dragonfly larvae...

I like the overnight soak idea. I do that with regular plants, so why not wild collected ones....

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. In fact, the last trip to Florida, I brought back some Rotala and later found two fry in the tank. (They grew up to be bluefin killies.)

Any pics of the plants found? I think the Ludwigia is probably L. palustris. L. repens isn't found this far north.

I JUST sent the P. crispus up to the museum in MA, and dropped off the unidentified with Rob last night. I'll snap some pics of what's left here and try to remember to get some of the stuff at Rob's later tonight.

Oh, Bobby Phillips at CCA took a closeup photo of the "scuds" we collected on the trip. I sent it to the NANFA list, and people said they were amphipods, one of a huge family of shrimp-like crustaceans. Because they were swimming nearly continually, I assumed they were filter feeders, like daphnia. I saw Eugen at the same meeting, and he said that his scuds were all over the prepared fish food he gave them. I gave them some trout starter, and could see them carrying it away in their mouths.
