No inverts, so got fishies - and some cool ones!

Post by ingg »

Picked up 8 otos for the 50 gallon today since inverts are going to have to wait, and they were finally selling the COOLEST fish!

Stiphodon species, some unknown species. they are algae eaters that look like a cross between a killifish and a darter.

Though I'm reading most are like gobies and little hunters, these ignored food and went straight to eating algae... wlel, one of them did, the other is clinging to the glass and breathing hard. ;( Pet store had the in with Julies for crying out loud, I think they'd been taking a beating.

Mine look a lot like this:

Well, down to one. Found the one who was panting dead as a doornail this morning.

Dang, bag floated, drip acclimated - otos and other stiphodon doing great... going to pawn this death on the LFS, having these in a tank of african cichlids probably wasn't the brightest thing they ever did. :(

Lost the male, too, bummer, he was incredible.

Think I found them, and if I did, am SO getting more, coolest algae eater ever! Might even be cooler than my little hillstream loaches, color on them is just awesome.

Anyone in for an order from Frank's Aquarium to get the shipping down? :)

Are yours the Ruby Red or the Neon Blue?

Too bad he is out of stock on the Peacocks or the Bichique....would have been interested...the ornates look cool as well but I wouldnt want to mess with trying to breed them in salt and transition them back to fresh.

Dave,

I'm probably interested in an order. Just let me look through what's available.

This one is obviously a female, the male had almost purple, solid dark colored, fins with neon blue edges on the anal fin - she is much less colorful, but still awesome.
