java fern question<<<
hey, i have had a lot of java fern, and everytime when i get it is nice and green, but after a while it starts turning brown and getting holes all over and new ones start growing from the leaves, any suggestions? i had something similar happen to a very large tipe of sword...help!!
Have to post the pecs of your tank - that sounds like no light and no potassium, and java fern is very hard to kill....
Java fern has a "last line of defense" sort of mechanism. It will sprout babies from the ends of leaves as propogation, but it often also does it when dying - perhaps some kind of mechanism to propogate downstream in the wild or something?

interesting, i was thinking potassium because of the examples in the last meeting, small holes in the leaves and small specks of algea in the glass. as far as the light goes i have a flora glo and a regular bulb, nothing fancy...but all other plants are doing great so i just don't know...

well that sucks..jejje, yeah, i was very interested in high output lights but my issue is money especially now so i got that one...now the left end gets sun light in the mornings and the light is on from about 8 to 10-11-12 or whenever i go to sleep, thanks for solving my problem. as far as growing goes, it is slow but very healthy, nothing too fancy though

Is that 8 pm? You should have a photo period of 8 to 10 hours if you want to grow plants that look healthy. You are either cutting them short (8 pm) or dragging it out too long (8 am).
