Fantastic pictures Ben! I believe you could section up the nana petite, tissue culture style, using rooting hormone to promote each cut section of rhizome to become it's own plant. I've never done it myself, though. :-/

[quote="Ben BeltonI did find this one this weekend for $20 at Lowes. It is 21" across on a quick measure. I saw large ones like you probably bought, but since this is my first try, I opted to start small. The pot in your pictures look much larger than 20".

This one is made of that resin stuff so it's very light.[/quote]

I have the EXACT one x 2.

Thanks everybody,

What would I put the nana petit in? Shallow tray with Amazonia?

I do worry about being on the ATF list, but you can see my set-up from the windows in my basement, so I hope if someone really became suspicious they would know someone growing something other than orchids would try to hide it better..

G, do you have yours planted yet? What did you put in it so the plants wouldn't be so deep?

Lastly, embarrassingly I forgot to include the orchid that will be named after my mom.

Hey Ben since you are big into Orchids, I have a question for you. DO you know anything about a "Water Orchid"?

I picked it up at the last meeting and Sean? didnt have any info on it, and I would like to try to get it to actually grow.

Jeff;

Its a Spiranthes. Not sure of the species since it came from Europe and there are about 30 species. Its actually a bog grower but several people have had success growing it submerged in a shallow tank. Sean can give better cultural care since it came from him.

Hey,

I'm not sure of the plant you are talking about, but I'll bet it's not really an orchid. Probably just called that. You don't happen to have any kind of scientific name do you? Maybe Ghazanfar will know. He grows a bigger variety orchids than I do.

Well, there you go. I can't think of any web pages off hand, but there are many people interested in growing native orchids. You might can find a web page.

Ben;

Congrats on the Phal 'Diane Belton', I'd love to get a plant in the future. It looks like you favour the Phalaenopsis?

Do I see some semi-hydro going on in your basement greenhouse too?

Cheers.
