180g, two weeks in - update may 23

No greenwater yet, UV is doing its job.

Starting to see some slight green fuzz on the wood and only on the wood. Added another 8 nerites, 14 in there now. Added about 40 shrimp last night, let's see how many remain after a week - already found two in pieces from the pumps and one outright dead - tank might still be newish for shrimp, but we'll give it a try...

Early on, I decided not to run all 12 bulbs, I've been running 8x39, 9 hours a day. The one plant I was worried about getting enough light? The Stellata. Now 2" taller, and growing like a weed

It's looking really good Dave! You're right that the UV must be working. Very little cloudiness whatsoever. Nice pics!

Very nice. One day I'll have an aquascape again. I could never get P stellata to do much. I think people have figured it out more these days, but there was a time when it was the biggest nightmare and only Luis Navarro could grow it.

I miss the name Eustralis stellata. Just sounds better. :mrgreen:

When was that Ben :) I was able to grow that sucker back in 2003 without a problem.

I love these out-of-town-ers forgetting about GG collecting every stem plant known to the trade in 2003 and farming them out to GWAPA members to hold for him. :lol:

Back in the day nothing - that huge Anubias that everyone was oo'ing over in the 180g setup was a *piece* of a gift from Ben.

The pieces tied on the wood on the right are also pieces from the same basketball you sent me - thank you again for that, I don't believe I was ever so stunned as when I opened that box that day.
