discus like to "graze", if you will, from the bottom of the tank. so if yours is standing up to cichlid digging, it'll do fine with discus grazing. lol.
looks like this stuff is the future floor to the ol' discus tank then.
in the meantime, I have to figure out how to be patient looking at this empty tank in my living room, until we do the group order on the ADA...

put a plastic bag across the front with an under construction sign on it so that you dont have to look at the vast emptiness.....it will drive you nutty otherwise
