I've been asked what Starphire glass is all about. I found this picture. <img src="uploads/gnatster/14C_20Starphire.jpg" border="0">

Starphire Glass Tank
These tanks are not mine, merely a representation of Starphire glass. Both were built by Will at Aquarium Obsessed in Toronto. I do not know cost of those sizes. I have a quote on my tank from him. Once we hammer out all the details I’ll be happy to let those interested know the pricing.
This is what I think I want
Tank Specs;
72x30x25 ~230 Gal
Starphire on front and both sides
Front edges beveled and polished
Euro Bracing
Black Silicone
Rear exterior painted semi-gloss black
Overflow, smoked glass, centered on rear glass, trapezoidal. 2 “1 Drains. Duroso variant, grey sched. 80 PVC . 2 ¾ returns contained in overflow footprint, each to be split to 2 ¾ black bulkheads centered 1/3 and 2/3 total height of each trapezoid leg, as close to the rear glass as technically possible.
I have received quotes from Oceanic, Leemar, Glasscages.com, Inter-American and Aquarium Obsessed.
I wrote up my experiences in tank shopping in the AquaBotanic forum DIY section, Learning about Glass. I also posted my original setup ideas in the Equipment section, Techno-Geek Planted Aquaria. I learned a lot from that posting, I had many misconceptions and thanks to the folks there, I’ve made significant changes in my plan. A follow-up with current plans will be posted for comment soon.

Those framelss tops are awesome... I wonder when AGA will get the hint and start making tanks that aren't so ugly.. Everything without top trim around here (non-custom) is acrylic.
This glass has an index of refraction close to water??? I used to work with a team that designed spectrometers, we used actual saphhire but that stuff was costing us ~$400 for a 1" circle, 1/4" think. I hope the price doesn't scale like this
