Tank & Regulator Height Question

Post by jcali10 »

Hello again. Thanksgiving is over, and I only gained 1 lb. :)
Okay, I want to get a 10 LB tank that is 22.25 inches tall and a Milwaukee MA975 regulator but I am not sure if there is sufficient room in the cabinet. I have a little over 25 inches of vertical space.

Comments? Anyone ever in this situation?
I don't want to order something that won't fit.

Thanks, Joe

Not sure if it works the same, but my regulator adds no height to the existing 20 lb tank and valve apparatus. Here's a picture of mine:

The Milwaukee regulator stands about an inch above the tank valve, but if you have the bubble counter with tubing, it takes about 2.5" above the tank valve.

ooh, that is gonna be very close.

I may have to look into getting a regulator without the bubble counter mounted on the needle valve.

If the regulator doesn't clear you can rotate it fowards or backwards to clear. The only drawback is you might not be able to read the gauge as clearly.

Got my 10 # cylinder Saturday and got it filled for $15 yesterday. It fits perfectly. Now I am waiting on a drop checker I ordered. The only things left to get is a bubble counter and a check valve. Almost ready to redo my 50. I still need some rocks too.

That's great! Which regulator did you end up getting?

I bought a JBJ, I chose one without the bubble counter with built in check valve cause I was worried about the height of the unit when attached to the tank. I've seen that JBJ bubble counter sell online or 9.99 to 29.99, but I will probably just use a homemade one.

I don't have a wrench big enough to fit on the nut that connects the regulator to the tank. I guess I need to buy a cheap adjustable wrench.
