10G Hood that will take screw in Flourescents

Post by snickle »

On Saturday, Dave showed me a 10G incadescent hood with screw in flourescents in it. That would be perfect for my 10, that I am getting ready to really plant.

I picked up an Aquatic Garden unit, but after looking at it I am not sure screw in flourescents will fit. Anyone no of another brand and where to get?

I just used the cheapo one from Aquarium Center, don't remember the name of it, was 11 or 12 dollars for the fixture.

I picked up a Perfecto Incadescent hood at Petsmart. Slapped a couple 15w daylight bulbs I had in it. Better already. I will look around for some higher wattage that will fit this weekend.

I also need add some additional reflectors to it.

I used the 10g hood with CFL a long time ago, worked great for growing algae and whatever other plants I had in there. I dont think it is the right wavelength to grow much else unless it is by accident.

You can get the screw in PC's in Daylight now, 6500K or so. They grow everything I put in my nanocube.
