Okay, thanks for the tip, I'll see what they can do.
Another option I was considering was buying two smaller fixtures, like this one, http://www.aquatraders.com/index.asp?Pa ... &ProdID=22 and then then just spacing them further apart on top. They'd look okay, no need for a canopy, and I can still use the glass canopy that comes with the tank deal. Or is this not a viable option? (It's certainly cheaper!)
Lighting my 120-gal
Well, I've looked at the canopy option at AHSupply. I guess I'm just not a DIY person when it comes to this sort of thing. Plus it looks like I'd have to remove the whole thing whenever I needed to get in the tank, even to feed the fish, which would be a real pain. I'd prefer having two smaller seperate fixtures to having a hood that doesn't prop up for easy access. Plus, I'm feeling that the cost and hassle of having to buy all these components seperately and then putting it together far outweighs the benefits. Yeah, I'm just not THAT dedicated. ;^) I'll let somebody else do the work for me when it comes to the light.
Take a look at these http://www.hamiltontechnology.com/shop/ ... 266&cat=68&
I know they have blue/actinic bulbs pictured but all you have to do is ask for FW. They will do a mix of 2 6700K and 2 10,000K.
While it's not the most perfect option you can use the glass tops that came with the tank and lay this on top.

Thanks for the link. I checked it out but I'm not sure how this is a better option than just buying, say, the standard Coralife Freshwater power compact. The wattage is the same, but this one has only one fan (so I assume it gets hotter), and the price is nearly double. Is there something else about this particular fixture that I'm missing?gnatster wrote:While it's not the most perfect option you can use the glass tops that came with the tank and lay this on top.
Not to complicate things further, but I've been very pleased with the lights we got for the aquascaping contest and one other I've ordered from Catalina Aquarium for my 20G.
They do build custom light fixtures to fit your needs. You might want to contact them about this, or check out their custom light builder. (not very easy to use, unfortunately).

Here's a PC 4x65W hood of their's:

You should start this as a new threadSpine wrote:I just broke down my(48x24x124) 120 gal.
