Shelving- Suggestions

Post by Ltrepeter2000 »

I am looking to consolidate my tanks and was wondering if people had some suggestions for shelving both DIY and also commercial products.
I am still not sure I want to try to DIY since I am still in an apartment so commercial shelves probably will work best for me. Look forward to seeing suggestions.

Thanks
Rob

Mainly 10 and 20 gallon tanks. Just need to get a few tanks out of other rooms and into the office. The bigger tanks arent the issue.

Does this need to be aesthetically pleasing or just something for now. You could try 2X4's and 2 cell blocks. Go to your local home depot and look around there. You may have to reinforce an out of the box unit to prevent bowing

HD also carried commercial shelves - should be able to hold quite a few tanks.

I was hoping to get feedback on what shelves you had used in the past and the plus and minuses you experienced. I have been to Home Depot so I have seen what they have and thought I would ask here before I selected either their shelves or going DIY

Thanks

From Lowes I picked up the black open metal shelving. Size is 48x18, 5 shelves, fully adjustable. Rack is filled with 2.5s and 5's with a 10 and 20L on the bottom. The shelves bow in the center slightly. I bought them because it's rated for 350lbs a shelf. I'd not buy these again for the same purpose.

Lowes did have a similar item with sold shelves that I would look at instead.
