Eriocaulon sp. 'Mato Grosso'?

Post by Ltrepeter2000 »

Anyone had this plant before? Saw it in a tank on APC and really liked the look of it as a mid ground plant. I would love to get some of this if someone has it.

Thanks

Rob,

How many would you want? I may be able to get some for you at around $15.00 each. I know a guy who has it and he will sell to me for around that price. I do hope you have very soft water or it won't last long.

Aaron

I will have to wait if its requirement is really soft water. I should have a tank that is soft sometime soon.

Thanks

What pic did you see it in? Do you have a URL? I have seen Tonina Mato Groso, but not the Eriocaulon.

Very Very soft water as in < 3 KH.

Well, technically it's not the softness of the water that seems to be important, it is the acidity of the water. Granted, low KH and acid water go hand in hand. ;) My water has a high GH of 12 and they still do fine because my KH is only 3 and I add enough CO2.

If you're pH is 6.5 or lower they will do well.

It's in the far right part of the midground in this picture: http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/foru ... ato+grosso

I disagree. When my KH is above 4 or so, I can't grow them. I have a pH controller so the pH still stays low regardless of the KH.

In the tank pic, is that the one that looks like the hair on Cindy Lou Who from Dr. Seuse? :D

I like that plant. I saw one go recently for about $20 on aquabid. Not for me.

Usually. Unfortunately, I get it too low sometimes.

I agree with you that you have to keep you pH low with your KH.
