I use Roberts Oxygen in Gaithersburg to fill up my CO2 tanks.

Don't go to Roberts Oxygen, they will take your new tank a way and give you one of theirs. They don't do refills, they only exchange.

You can go here:
Maryland Fire Equipment Corporation
It's in Rockville.

The tank exchange can be a good thing unless you bought a super fancy tank. If you don't care what your tank looks like, exchanging means you'll never have to worry about getting the tank retested yourself. If you just fill up your existing tank, eventually, the tank will need to be tested on they won't fill it. That process costs like $25 and takes a few days to a week to come back, meaning you'll either need a spare tank, or go without CO2 for a week. Good news is you probably have a couple years between testing...

I use Roberts in College Park, or get tanks filled at Laurel Bottled Gas, both are on Route 1. I've got to believe there's a closer place to you in Upper Marlboro.

Tanks only need to be hydrotested every 5 years.

Like Kris said, never having to get your tank tested is a bonus. It is also a lot quicker to exchange a tank rather than wait for someone to fill your tank. The guys at my Robert's are great. Over the years they have upgraded all my tanks to 20 pounders for cheap or free. They also filled 2 tanks for free once when their CC machine was down.

I have a 10lb tank that I got maybe a year ago that is basically full (it's a long story). My 5lb ran out this week and I was thinking about hooking the tank up to the 10lb - but I'm guessing it's better to go exchange it for a new, completely full tank, from Robert's? I don't have a dang clue what hydrotesting is.

The other thing is that some companies won't refill Robert's tanks.

I go to Laurel Bottled Gas. 20 pound tanks owned by the store are the way to go. No hydrotesting, no waiting, and you get the priceless feeling of being a regular.
