Some of you saw this tank when I hosted In February last year. I had it set in a window sill in the laundry room with some HC growing immersed. It is a 14 gallon Mr. Aqua tank. I finally got around to building a stand for it. The stand is made of red oak ply wood and stained black with a semi gloss finish. The pictures are the before and after. The stand is two and a half inches longer than the tank and has 3 holes drilled for plumbing. I plan on using 2 Eheim 2215s.
I arranged the stone and rearrange several times before I was happy and then filled with water to test the tank seals. I liked the first scape but ultimately decided it was too busy looking and crowded. I think It looks better with the smaller stones. the substrate is Amazonia topped with Eco complete. I plan on just planting Blyxa japonica, Marsilea quadrifolia, and Staurogyne repens. Lighting is Marine Land double bright.

Very nice Nick. I'm building my stand in a similar fashion such the pipes come up through the top of the stand.

It is one or both of the named Japanese rocks, not really sure. I got some of it from Aqua forest Aquarium through both mail order and from when I was in California. The two big pieces came from Quantum Reef. I think it was about $4 a pound from AFA and 7 from QR, I don't remember exactly.krisw wrote:Looks really nice, Nick! I am thinking about building a trim piece to go on the left. It would cover the pipes and be level with the top of the tank. I think it would give it a clean look and it would just sit on the top so if I didn't end up liking it I could just take it off. I'll post pictures if I end up doing it. To tell you the truth though, if I was to build another stand, I would just make the holes in the side so the aquarium was centered on the stand.Aaron wrote:Very nice Nick.
