Low and slow growing foreground?

I'd like something that grows low and grows slow. I don't mind if I have to plant a ton of plugs or wait for it to fill in. I'm tired of chasing and pruning the pretty but fast growing stuff I have now. Since it's in the foreground I'd also like it to be relatively fine.

Any suggestions?

Marsilea is a great plant that should meet this criteria. Crypt parva is another.

I'll second the marsilea. It's one of the slower foreground plants, unless it's in a high-tech tank. Crypt parva, however takes f.o.r.e.v.e.r to grow in any tech tank.

After looking at some pix online I think for this purpose I'd favor the marsilea. Anyone have some they'd like to sell at the next meeting?

Just so you know, there's Marsilea quadrifolia, which you can buy in pots from most stores. It looks like tall 4-leaf clover in the pot, but turns into a foreground plant with our lights. It's leaves are slightly larger than glosso. There's also smaller species, Marsilea crenata (glosso sized), and even smaller, Marsilea minuta (near HC size).

Lilaeopsis chinensis 'Maryland' is a good one. Crypt parva? You can't get any slower than that.

I think Marsilea quadrifolia grows rather fast, or at least it does for me. The Marsilea minuta seems to grow about 1 half to a third the rate of the regular quadrifolia.

Jim I have some I will bring for you to the next meeting. If you have any blyxa japanica or staurogyne repens we could make a trade, If you don't thats fine you can still have the minuta.
