Photometer

Post by Ghazanfar Ghori »

Anyone seen this?

http://www.wasserpantscher.at/index.php ... meter.html

Not exactly cheap - the photometer itself is about $135

Photometer plus 4 test kits about $200.
Their offering of test kits include the standard Nitrate, Phosphate, pH, GH, KH etc but also have CO2, O2, Potassium, Iron.

Currently I use the API test kits but they're not very easy to read.

I think the expensive part of test kits like those are the reagants.

I just got this one for Christmas. http://www.hannainst.com/usa/prods2.cfm ... e=HI%20775
I'm hoping between that and a pH monitor I can get a pretty accurate idea of my true CO2 levels.

The reagents arent that expensive. 7 euros to 19 euros ($10 to $25) for 40 tests.

For an apples to apples comparison - Nitrate test (40 test) is 12 euros = ~$16. Amazon has the API nitrate kit for about $11 (90 tests) - so yes, you're right, its more expensive, but costs are not crazy obscene.
Might even be cheaper than the lamotte kits we used back in the day.

Just curious if anyone has used them / read reviews etc.
Where's Eugene / Victor when you need them. :)

The Hanna checkers are popular in reefkeeping. I don't have any yet, but plan to get some in the future. I've seen them range from $25 to $50.

If you ever want to built a test system where you can measure any/all of that stuff automatically ... Eugen will be there with enthusiasm to assist.
Otherwise I am completely ignorant of any test kits and measuring cups and counting drops of rearagents on a regular basis.
