Got mine today and just put it on the tank. No pix yet. I like it so far. Really nice construction. Tank mounts work great.
More evaluation tomorrow.
Very bright!

Re: Buildmyled.com
Thought I would update everyone on my quest for the perfect LED fixtures for my 37g. Nick, one of the owners of Buildmyled.com, called me yesterday to say that he has finished the prototype of the Geisemann midday/aquaflora fixture. He said this new combo makes the reds look fantastic and of all his color combos it has the best PAR. He also said the fixture has a new elec config that is more efficient than the other one.
The new light fixtures are on their way. I'll let everyone know how they look once they arrive.

Nice. I'm curious to see just how close it is. That's pretty interesting that the PAR is the best so far. Did he send you the configuration by any chance?
Re: Buildmyled.com
No, he didn't, but I'm sure he will post/provide it if asked since he posts the other configs. He did say that he bought some plants to see how they would look under the lights, and he said the reds really did pop.Aaron wrote:Nice. I'm curious to see just how close it is. He also said, if I after seeing these new lights I thought they would look better tweaked a bit more, he would be willing to do that.
I'll probably get the new lights in about a week.

Re: Buildmyled.com
Quick update: The light level seems fine for my eyes in our well lit family room, even during daytime from a single stick. However even combined with good fertz and >20ppm CO2 I'm not seeing any real pearling. However the plants I have now are still recovering from the rescaping which had many of them in a dark bucket for a week. My plants are currently mostly slow growers like bolbitis, java fern, crypts and anubias.
I'll try the PAR meter on this tank at some point. I don't really have a need to see pearling. I'm very satisfied with steady, healthy growth of the plants I'd like to keep. I'm just not sure of what plants I'm limiting myself to with this light level however.

Re: Buildmyled.com
I used to have four 24" T5s over my 37g. I replaced them with two 29" "freshwater" LED fixtures from Buildmyled, and my plants still pearl. I am excited to receive the new LEDs with the even better PAR output. I don't mind trimming. It gives me plenty to bring to the GWAPA auction each month.Jim Miller wrote:Quick update: The light level seems fine for my eyes in our well lit family room, even during daytime from a single stick. After reading your note and receiving a notice from Nick that they hadn't started my fixture, I asked him to change mine to the Midday prototype too. I'm looking forward to comparing to the planted aquarium type I already have.

Good, it will be nice to get someone else's eyeballs on the Aquaflora/Midday prototype too!krisw wrote:After reading your note and receiving a notice from Nick that they hadn't started my fixture, I asked him to change mine to the Midday prototype too.
