Wet/Dry with Sump?

Post by Jim Miller »

IIRC, someone was going to switch one or more of their tanks to a W/D with sump arrangement. Am I imagining things (again...)? If not how is it going? Pix?

I switched mine over to a wet / dry and I like it so far. It uses more CO2, but that's cheap. It's also tricky to remember to top it off as it's not so readily apparent anymore that it needs it. My favorite part as Cavan says is the "glorious lack of surface film."

Any pix of the workings? How's the sound? What did you do for an overflow?

No pics of the setup. It's a CPR CS-90 overflow into a ProClear wet / dry. I'm using 10 ppi poret foam as a prefilter and 20 and 30 ppi poret as biomedia in the sump. Switching to the poret foam has drastically cut down on how often I have to clean the prefilters. Noise can be an issue. It's finicky to tune for sure. If I were starting from the beginning I would drill the side of the tank for an over flow from www.glass-holes.com.
