Nesaea pedicellata 'golden'
Nesaea pedicellata 'golden'
I picked up this plant at the February auction and it looked OK for a while but lately it's looking a little sad with poor color, the leaves a twisted slightly, and there are some brown patches on the leaves. It's in my 150 which is high light, CO2, and EI dosed with Fe but I read the APC plant finder and it stated it needed a moderately rich substrate and was slow to recover from nitrogen deficiency. This could be my problem because it's planted in Flourite but I keep the nitrates at 15 to 20 ppm, maybe a Osomocote gel cap would help it perk up, what do you think.
Sincerely,
Tim

Tim, I think you bought that from me. About a year ago mine was looking bad too -- mainly algae. I took half of it out and put it in my emersed setup. In a couple of months it looked great and I put it back in the tank where it has done well in Aqua Soil.150EH wrote:I picked up this plant at the February auction and it looked OK for a while but lately it's looking a little sad with poor color, the leaves a twisted slightly, and there are some brown patches on the leaves. I'm not sure about the rich substrate. It did just as well in quartz sand as in aquasoil. It did just as well without CO2 as with. The only requirement I know it has is very high light. Make sure it isn't even a little bit shaded in the brightest spot in your high light tank.

I recently gave up on that plant in frustration. Looked good for awhile, put out some new growth, then went downhill. I tried it in several different tanks. True, it didn't handle shading well, but oddly it seemed to do just as well in a lower light tank as in a high light tank.
